Why I Aspire For The Green Chambers - Akeem
A world class industrialist turned politician, Hon Akeem Olalekan Moshood, has reiterated his commitment towards selfless service to the people if given the mandate to represent them at the green chambers.
Speaking during an interview with journalists in Lagos, he revealed his mission to represent the people of Ijebu Central Federal Constituency in the National Assembly. Excerpts:
Q: Kindly xray your profile sir?
A: I am an indigene of Ososa-Ijebu, in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State. I attended St John Primary School and also obtained my secondary education in Ososa.
After graduating in flying colours I was privileged to attend Osun State polytechnic and studied Business Administration and later travelled out of the country to study Banking and Finance.
God on my side, I worked briefly with several organizations before I established my personal company, Real Estate Business in United kingdom.
I also established some factories here in Nigeria in a bid to promote the economy.
Q: Before aspiring for the green chambers what has been your socio economic contributions?
A: During my school days, I belong to the student union government protecting the right of student on campus and after graduation. I continued to render selfless services to the people.
To start with, I renovated some buildings in my Alma Mata and I intend to do more because that is only way of giving back to the society.
I also have a foundation that provide health support to the people because I believe health is wealth. I provided borehole which is being powered with solar.
I also intend to extend our health outreach to the senior citizens in the society. The aged people will be given free medications and help them to have a sense of belonging in the society.
In our localities we have the CDA's and CDC, I intend to synergies with them towards undertaking a number of projects that will upscale our society.
Q: Do you have a vision and mission in the green chambers?
A: We cannot just sit on the fence and continue to point accusing fingers, rather we need to get involved in the process and make amendments where necessary, there is no foreigner that will come and develop Nigeria for us, we also need to look inward, go back to the drawing board and fashion out ways of developing Nigeria.
On this note, I am prepared and determined to contribute my quota towards the development of Nigeria and I am prepared to use my experiences internationally to make a positive change by changing the narratives.
I must acknowledge the vision of our late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo because he meant well for the country and we need to build on some of his legacies. My vision in the green chambers is three Rs -- reconciliation, rehabilitation and reconstruction. We need to bridge the gap between the people and the government, leveraging on available opportunities to transform and place them on a vantage position by looking inward an identifying key area of interest that will create a brighter and rewarding future.
The health sector will be improved upon while adequate legislation will be made to protect farmers and further encourage them to expand production, critical agencies will be consulted to make this vision a reality more importantly in the area of housing, we need to provide affordable housing scheme for the people. We will work with the private sector to ensure 24 hours power supply and further enhance rural development.
Q: From your own point of view do you think Asiwaju Tinubu deserves a second term in office?
A: Yes, President Tinubu deserves a second mandate, if we look at the history of Nigeria president Tinubu is the first president that has taken the bold steps of restoring the lost glory of the country and this include the fuel subsidy removal because before now Nigeria as a country spend Trillions annually to provide subsidy.
Today allocations to state and local government have increased by 300 percent, therefore any state governor or local government chairman who fails to provide infrastructures for his people have questions to answer.
Gone are the days state governor obtain loan to pay wages of civil servant and undertake projects. We know that Rome was not built in a day and we can see the various on going federal government road's rehabilitation works across the country and this include the coastal road from Calabar to Lagos , Sagamu Ore road, Sokoto Badagry road among other infrastructures.
My view is that the electorates should give the president the privilege to consolidate on his achievements in office.
Q: Why do you think the people of Ijebu Central Federal Constituency should support your candidacy?
A: I intend to add value to the people through policy formulation geared towards good governance, I have come to serve and I have passion for good governance. God bless Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, God bless Ogun State and Nigeria.
